Celebrating Emergency Medicine Day

Although the Cochrane First Aid Field focuses on the layperson as the provider of care, we are also part of the Cochrane Acute and Emergency Care Thematic Group. As mentioned before, this partnership is designed to advance collaboration and research across this broad range of specialised topic areas, improve the quality and accessibility of evidence for healthcare providers in time-sensitive settings, and ultimately enhance patient outcomes.

As part of the Thematic Group, we are happy to highlight an important awareness day celebrated annually on 27 May. Emergency Medicine Day raises awareness on the importance of having well-organized Emergency Medical Systems. This year's campaign pays tribute to the dedication and expertise of Emergency Medicine professionals who provide life-saving care across systems worldwide, highlighting their strength, resilience, and impact.
The campaign aims to foster greater appreciation and support for these professionals by underscoring the critical aspects and challenges of their work. Implementing strategies to reduce burnout and improve working conditions is essential for ensuring high job satisfaction and effective functioning of Emergency Medical Systems.
