New look and home for the leading first aid journal
The International Journal of First Aid Education is a journal that publishes scholarly and field-based works to advance the knowledge and practices of those involved in first aid and first aid education. Published works may also assist organizations, governments, and funders to identify support networks and best practices to help inform policy, laws, and measurements surrounding first aid for the resiliency of individuals, communities, and populations.
Our achievements in 2022
Providing Cochrane evidence in easy-to-digest formats to everyone, including laypeople, has remained an important task for us in 2022. In addition, we have developed a new strategic plan for the upcoming 3 years, while navigating the uncertainty of the long-term strategic direction and organisational structure of Cochrane.
New Cochrane protocol: First aid training for laypeople
Together with our initiator, the Centre for Evidence-Based Practice of Belgian Red Cross, we have published a protocol for a Cochrane systematic review on the effectiveness of first aid training for laypeople in The Cochrane Library.

Draft strategic plan 2023-2025 open for public comment
At our launch in April 2019, we published our first strategic plan, outlining our mission and vision, and containing goals that would guide us through our first 3,5 years (2019-2022).
CEBaP workshop on the evidence ecosystem
On 22 October, the Belgian Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine celebrated its 20th anniversary with a day of inspiring workshops and presentations by international speakers.
World First Aid Day
The second Saturday in September marks World First Aid Day. Our collaborating centre, the Global First Aid Reference Centre (GFARC) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, is in charge to coordinate this event and provide resources to national Red Cross Societies. The theme of this year's awareness day, on September 10, is: "Lifelong First Aid".
Proud 2022 Evidence Ambassador for World Evidence-Based Healthcare Day
20 October marks World Evidence-Based Healthcare (EBHC) Day, a global initiative raising awareness for better evidence to inform healthcare policy, practice and decision making.

During the latest conference of the European Resuscitation Council past June, Global First Aid Reference Centre (GFARC) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), our collaborating centre, hosted a live webinar titled “Remote and hazardous: first aid adaptation in challenging contexts”.
