First Aid Vision 2030

First Aid Vision 2030

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) strives to prepare and equip vulnerable populations around the globe to protect and save lives. By sharing the basic knowledge and skills to prevent and care for injuries and illness within communities and individuals, first aid training empowers individuals by giving them a chance to help themselves and others, resulting in safer and more resilient communities.

Last year, the 192 National Societies within the IFRC network have adopted the First Aid Vision 2030 and its operational framework. The First Aid Vision 2030 covers six priority action areas that serve to focus the efforts of the IFRC (including our collaborating centre, the Global First Aid Reference Centre) and the 192 National Societies regarding first aid. The areas are:

  1. First aid education;
  2. Standards and qualifications;
  3. Research, evidence, and evaluation;
  4. First aid in schools;
  5. Commercial first aid;
  6. Prehospital emergency care and operations.

With regards to the 3rd priority area on "Research, evidence and evaluation", the IFRC aims to strengthen capacity in research, evidence, evaluation, and learning related to first aid, educational programs and methodologies and impact of first aid education on learners and communities.

As Cochrane First Aid, we are involved in the further realisation and implementation of the Vision, in the context of the 6th strategic goal in our Strategy 2023-2025, i.e. "Facilitating primary research".
