The mission of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) is to promote, disseminate and advocate the international implementation of evidence-informed resuscitation and first aid recommendations, using transparent evaluation and consensus summary of scientific data. To do so, it relies on rigorous and continuous reviews of scientific literature performed by the members of 6 Task Forces.

From May 30 to June 1, ILCOR hosted its annual face-to-face meeting in Brisbane, Australia. Cochrane First Aid coordinator and CEBaP researcher Jorien attended the meeting as a member of the First Aid Task Force.

In order to strengthen the methodological skills of its members, the First Aid Task Force chair asked Jorien to host a workshop that was specifically tailored to the needs of the members, during one of the break-out sessions. During the first part of the workshop, the members learned more about how to develop, reiterate and run search strings in multiple databases. In the second hands-on part, the members learned to apply the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2.0 tool to a first aid-related randomized controlled trial.

Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback Jorien received, we are confident that this workshop has helped to strengthen the evidence review capacities of the First Aid Task Force.
