20 October marks World Evidence-Based Healthcare (EBHC) Day, a global initiative to raise awareness of the need for better evidence to inform healthcare policy, practice and decision-making.

From 4 to 6 September, the annual Cochrane Colloquium was held in London with the theme "Forward together for trusted evidence". This theme was chosen to emphasize the challenges we are facing regarding the trustworthiness of healthcare data and information, but also to celebrate 30 years of trusted Cochrane evidence.

Since 2000, the second Saturday of September has been designated as World First Aid Day, with the aim of raising public awareness of the importance of first aid, both as an act of humanitarian empowerment and as a key component of a wider resilience approach.

The mission of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) is to promote, disseminate and advocate the international implementation of evidence-informed resuscitation and first aid recommendations, using transparent evaluation and consensus summary of scientific data. To do so, it relies on rigorous and continuous reviews of scientific literature performed by the members of 6 Task Forces.

We have said it before and we will say it again: our aim is to break down linguistic barriers as much as possible by making Cochrane evidence available in multiple languages. So far, we have been producing blogshots in 11 different languages.

8 May is World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, a global day to celebrate the uniqueness and unity of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. For us at Cochrane First Aid, it is the perfect opportunity to highlight our connections with the Belgian Red Cross and the Global First Aid Reference Centre (GFARC) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC):

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) strives to prepare and equip vulnerable populations around the globe to protect and save lives. By sharing the basic knowledge and skills to prevent and care for injuries and illness within communities and individuals, first aid training empowers individuals by giving them a chance to help themselves and others, resulting in safer and more resilient communities.

The International Journal of First Aid Education is a journal that publishes scholarly and field-based works to advance the knowledge and practices of those involved in first aid and first aid education. Published works may also assist organizations, governments, and funders to identify support networks and best practices to help inform policy, laws, and measurements surrounding first aid for the resiliency of individuals, communities, and populations.

Providing Cochrane evidence in easy-to-digest formats to everyone, including laypeople, has remained an important task for us in 2022. In addition, we have developed a new strategic plan for the upcoming 3 years, while navigating the uncertainty of the long-term strategic direction and organisational structure of Cochrane.
