Cochrane vs COVID-19 Case Studies highlight the many ways that Cochrane has successfully responded to COVID-19 around the world.

World Evidence-Based Healthcare (EBHC) Day is held on 20 October each year. This global initiative wants to raise awareness for better evidence to inform healthcare policy, practice and decision making.

Due to multiple other obligations, Anne-Catherine Vanhove has decided to step down as a coordinator of Cochrane First Aid. Although she will no longer be actively involved in the day to day work of Cochrane First Aid, as a systematic review expert for Cochrane Belgium, she will still contribute to Cochrane First Aid by translating blogshots to Dutch and disseminating our work through social media. We thank Anne-Catherine for all the work she has done and look forward to continue working with her as a contributor.

On Wednesday 7 October, Cochrane First Aid field coordinator Jorien Laermans presented a live webinar on “Consulting, Interpreting & Using First Aid Research Evidence” during Survival 2020 - The International Red Cross First Aid, Injury Prevention and Aquatics Education Virtual Conference. 

Cochrane Africa is a network that envisions to increase the use of best evidence to inform healthcare decision making in Sub-Saharan Africa. The network plays a coordinating role and unifies 4 regional hubs that are each lead by Cochrane Review authors, mentors and trainers. 

Cochrane First Aid aspires to lower the bar towards the use of high-quality evidence for all who have an interest in first aid and to be a liaison between science and practice. One way to realize these aims is by actively contributing to thematic first aid conferences.

The contributions of our volunteers are invaluable to Cochrane First Aid. They are actively involved in the development, translation and dissemination of our blogshots and news. We are pleased to highlight their contributions to Cochrane and Cochrane First Aid.Chun Hoong Wong was the very first to sign up and is one of our most active volunteers to this day. He started out by creating blogshots in English and immediately translating them to Malay. Recently, he has expanded his activities for Cochrane First Aid to include Chinese translations as well.

Currently, our first aid blogshots are already being translated from English to French, Dutch and Malay. Obviously, we want them to reach as many people as possible in the world. Therefore, we are looking for additional volunteer translators.

CEBaP, the founding centre of Cochrane First Aid, has recently been ISO certified for the development of systematic reviews and evidence summaries for evidence-based guidelines.

Last week, Cochrane First Aid celebrated its first birthday. This past year has been one full of activity! We launched late April of 2019 after several months of preparation to set up the field, develop a strategic plan, get the website up and running, have resources and evidence available on the website and start developing blogshots.
